Your group is off by some amount. This tells you exactly how many clicks to turn, and which way. Works for MOA and MRAD optics, yards or meters.
Measure from the center of your group, not from a single shot, and shoot at least 5 shots from a stable rest. If your group is scattered wider than about 3 inches, fix grip and trigger before touching the optic — adjusting a bad group just moves the scatter.
Unload the gun before any tool touches the optic.
